The
Executive Board of
Alief - TSTA / NEA
consists of 5 Officers and 4 Area Directors, all of whom
are elected by the membership. All nine are full voting members of the Executive
Board, and as such carry on the business of the
Association on behalf of the members.
Below you will find the
job descriptions for each member of the Executive Board.
Every person
serving in these positions is a full-time employee of the school
district who also volunteers to work on your
behalf for the good of education employees who are
members of this Association.

The
President
Ovidia Molina shall:
-
be the chief executive of the Association;
-
represent the Association as spokesperson on matters of
policy or assign responsibility for such representation;
-
prepare an agenda and preside at all meetings of the
Association;
-
communicate Association matters with the membership by email
or other means on a regular basis;
-
set meeting dates for Executive Board by September 1, set
general member meeting dates, and set election dates with
approval of Executive Board;
-
serve as an ex-officio member of all committees except the
Hearing Committee;
-
appoint all committees and task forces by September 1 with
the approval of the Executive Board;
-
approve all communications sent out in the name of the
Association;
-
ensure annual compliance with TSTA compliance standards;
-
be able to sign Association checks;
-
enter into contracts on behalf of the Association as
approved by the Executive Board;
-
sign all legal instruments concerned with the business and
professional activities of the Association;
-
serve as automatic delegate to the Regional, TSTA, and NEA
conventions each year, which shall be noted on the ballot
for officer elections;
-
maintain a current list serve of Association
Representatives;
-
serve as the Association representative on the TSTA Regional
Board of Directors.

The
Vice President of Membership Recruitment
Claudette Clay shall:
-
perform the duties of president in the
absence of the President;
-
plan and coordinate the member recruitment
activities of the Association;
-
maintain a current list serve of new members
recruited throughout the year;
-
plan and coordinate all-member meetings;
-
assist the Membership Records committee chair with
maintenance of the Association membership records;
-
appoint the Hearing Committee when charges have been filed
against the President;
-
perform other duties as delegated by the President or
Executive Board.

The
Vice President of Leadership Structure
Jo Ann Davis shall:
-
plan and coordinate training for Association Representatives
and members;
-
maintain a current list serve of Association Representatives
by campus;
-
plan and coordinate at least
four AR meetings yearly;
-
oversee committee chairs when needed;
-
assist the Vice President of Member
Recruitment with member recruitment activities of the
Association;
-
perform other duties as delegated by the President or
Executive Board.

The
Secretary
Tyrolyn
Redmond shall:
-
prepare, submit for approval, and maintain copies of the
Minutes of all meetings of the Executive Board and the
Association membership;
-
keep complete and permanent records of all meetings and
other matters of the Executive Board and the Association
membership, and ensure these records are delivered to
his/her successor when leaving office;
-
assist the VP of Member Recruitment in member recruiting
activities;
-
serve as chair of the Bylaws Committee at least every two
years;
-
assist the Vice President of Leadership Structure by
maintaining a current list serve of Association
Representatives.

The
Treasurer
Pamela Belcher shall:
-
be chairperson of the Budget Committee;
-
keep an accurate and current account of all receipts and
disbursements;
-
disburse funds authorized by the budget plan and the
President;
-
sign checks as needed;
-
present at each Executive Board meeting a listing of all
checks written since the last meeting, including the payee,
amount of the check, and purpose of the expenditure;
-
present a financial spreadsheet reflecting current and
projected expenditure balances at each Executive Board and
Association membership meetings;
-
cooperate fully with the Audit Committee;
-
ensure that the President has necessary information and
records to meet TSTA compliance standards; and
-
submit all Association financial records to the new
Treasurer at the conclusion of term of office.

The
Area Directors shall:
-
hold meetings with
their respective constituencies during the year as
needed;
-
report to the
Executive Board on the views & issues of their
particular area of responsibility;
-
assist the VP of
Membership Recruitment in member recruiting activities;
-
assist the VP of
Membership Recruitment in distributing member materials
& gifts;
-
assist the VP of
Leadership Structure by maintaining a current list serve
of ARs in their area of responsibility;
-
attend at least one school board meeting in the fall &
at least one school board meeting in the spring.
